“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen (bird, fowl or hen) gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! See! Your house (place of habitation) is left to you desolate; for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ” (Mat. 23:37-39)
Many years ago I was shown in a vision a giant fowl with wings in the form of a man with a human face. I was praying the Lord’s Prayer at the time when suddenly I felt the intense exhilaration of “the refreshing”. (Acts. 3:19-21) It was recognized that this large Fowl or Bird scripturally represented the Lord Jesus Christ and the refreshing was the effect of being in His holy presence.
Last week while listening to someone speak about Mat.23:37-39, a vision of bright-yellow chicks contained in a wired cage was shown. It was the type of deplorable cage that holds chickens before they are slaughtered. The conditions associated with these cages are so demoralizing and barbaric that it can crush your heart.
In this vision, the chicks symbolize children who are earthly descendants and inhabitants regardless of their chronological age (Strong’s 5043). They represent Adam’s descendants – Israel – who were destined to be held under protective wings – the safe boundaries of GOD’S Covenant ratified thousands of years later by Jesus Christ. But tragically when the Messiah upon whom the New Covenant was established appeared as Jesus of Nazareth, Israel as a nation refused to recognize and accept Him as the anointed Savior. It caused a heartbroken Savior, our Lord Jesus, to prophetically lament: “….you shall see me no more until you say, “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.“‘
Figuratively, the chicks now represent anyone – Jews and Gentiles alike – whose souls are held captive in deplorable conditions. Jews and Gentiles who have been or will be taken by the Fowler (Satan or wicked people) because they remain outside of Christ’s New Covenant. The bait could be a host of things: pride, idolatry and rejecting GOD’S Word on so many levels: (Deut.7:25; Ps. 141:9, Ps. 14:1:4, Jer. 50:24, 31, 32; Is. 8:15; 28:13). GOD who is ever merciful does not want anyone to perish. There is a way to safety! HE calls mankind to be secured under HIS Son’s protective wings and be absolved of their sins through repentance in accordance with the New Covenant that was put in place for their safety and salvation.
“Blessed be the Lord, Who has not given us as prey to their teeth (like chickens in a cage waiting to be slaughtered and devoured) Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; The snare is broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” (Ps. 124:6-8)
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler. (Hunter of fowls) And from the perilous pestilence (presently taking place). He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler (of faith). You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.…..Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place.….(Ps. 91:2-6)
The prophesied time of tribulations is soon to come upon this earth. Israel would do well to hearken to the words of her prophets who were stoned to death to bring her truth. She would do well to search scriptures because they reveal Jesus Christ as her Messiah and Sanctuary. Every one of us, everywhere, would do well to be safely positioned under His wings and experience His refreshing during these critical days. Tragically, we know that this will not happen for many until after an unprecedented 7-year period of tribulation (I am hearing: of “War’). After which time the Lord returns a second time but this time those who make it through will finally say, “…..Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.”
