To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God. (Eph. 3:10)
A Timely Word of Knowledge
Yesterday while thinking about the heavy spiritual darkness and rampant evil that is taking place in our world, a Word of Knowledge cut through my thoughts like a Sword and was suddenly spoken: RAINBOW.
The Rainbow | From Beginning to End
In the Book of Genesis, the colourful rainbow is primarily introduced as an atmospheric event in the sky. A symbol of God’s everlasting covenant of peace and mercy after the global flood with a promise that He would never again destroy the earth in the same manner (Gen. 9:12-16). From the Book of Genesis to the Book of Revelation, the Rainbow proves that God never abandons His creation. From the mountains of Ararat through the dark storms of human history, the Rainbow is an everlasting sign that He is watching and is always present with His people.
The Battle Bow
But there is a profound depth to this Word. In Hebrew, the Rainbow is pronounced as qeshet, which translates to a “War Bow” or a “battle bow” because that is what it resembles. The position of the bow is important because when God set this bow in the clouds, He placed it pointing upward and that is very significant as will be explained.
In the Book of Revelation, the Rainbow appears again on the head of a Mighty Angel who declares that GOD’S mystery for the ages is about to be established. And yes, it includes judgment as was written by the Prophets and Apostle John.
And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire. (Rev. 10:1)
And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer: But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall BEGIN to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets. (Rev. 10:5-7)
At this point we need to pause and recognize that the Rainbow conveys a powerful symbol for the end times. The mystery of God is the completion of His hidden plan to end all evil, stop any further delay and establish His everlasting kingdom on earth. While God has allowed a fractured and dark world to persist for centuries and centuries, this mystery is fully finished when Jesus Christ (the Mighty Angel with the Rainbow on His Head) takes total control of the planet and turns the kingdoms of this world into His own eternal kingdom (Rev. 11:15).
This ultimate victory signals that the battle bow is drawn to bring final justice and order to the earth. And this is what caught my attention! Remember the bow points upward into the heavens meaning the Lord is ultimately targeting spiritual powers, principalities, and rulers of darkness operating in high places (Eph. 6:12). Indeed, the battle is not against flesh and blood but against powers and principalities in higher realms. What a profound revelation is discerned in the Rainbow!
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Eph. 6:12)
Having disarmed principalities and powers, He (Jesus Christ) made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it (through His finished works on the Cross.) (Col. 2:15)
A Vision | The Woman In The Rainbow
A couple of years ago in a vision, a woman was shown with a bright flash of white light descending on her head. It diffused into the colours of the Rainbow and continued to descend through her and arched out into a colourful circle (rainbow) around her feet. The woman represented the remnant and overcoming Ecclesia who is positioned in perfect alignment with Jesus Christ: The Light of the world! The light descending first upon Her head points to the authority and anointing that flows directly from Him into the body (Eph. 5:23). As this single pure light passes through her, it refracted and arched into the 7 colours of rainbow. It perfectly mirrors the sevenfold powers of the Holy Spirit outlined by Prophet Isaiah: The Spirit of the Lord, wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and the fear of the Lord manifesting in complete fullness through the entire body. (Isa. 11:2; Eph. 3:10). The redeemed body of Christ is not independent of all its parts; it was and is destined to be a quickened, living and breathing body functioning under His Headship. Yes, from the Rainbow in the atmospheric skies of Noah’s days, the heavenly Rainbow surrounding GOD’S throne in heaven, the Rainbow surrounding the Head of the Mighty Angel and to the very head and ground the people of the covenant stand on, so shall the Rainbow in heaven be on earth! (Mat. 6:9-13) The wondrous mysteries of GOD, they are so, so, profound! 🙏
While we are certainly commanded to watch, prepare and remain vigilant of the evil in our days, our ultimate focus is how clearly we continue to reflect the unchanging nature of GOD and HIS gospel in an evil world. Scriptures establish that while the darkness of our age may feel unprecedented, our calling and trust in GOD must remain entirely steady. We are called to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Rather than letting our focus be consumed by fear or anxiety over global events, we are called to actively continue to receive the light of Christ and let it illuminate us, our everyday lives and those around us.
Just as the Mighty Angel of Revelation (this represents Jesus Christ by the way) planted His feet on land and sea to claim authority, the Rainbow descending to the woman all the way down to her feet and encircling the ground she stood on signifies that the overcoming Church is called to take Her stand in spiritual authority over darkness, marking the earth as holy territory under the boundary of GOD’S covenant protection (Rev. 10:1-2, Luke 10:19). And that true spiritual impact comes from living out a transformative faith that offers more than hope and unwavering truth to a world desperately looking for an answer; for a way out of the darkness!
Justice and Mercy
From all of this, we learn that the Spirit-filled Church is called to be a Light in the darkness. That the Rainbow is a promise of no more deluge and not of no more judgment. It means that Mercy and Justice do not work independently of each other. They are not opposites. They work together in synergy to resolve the problem of evil in a way that only GOD can achieve. For those of us who see the evil taking place and wonder how will we ever get out of this complex hot mess? How will it all unfold? The answer is perhaps too simple. We must continue to have faith that our CREATOR will shake and resolve it perfectly in His own time, ways and order. And we know how it all ends. In the meantime, it behooves us to remember that the New Covenant Rainbow remains a powerful barrier and sign against evil, its agenda and destruction. And that GOD’S end time plan to combat that darkness remains much higher than our own understanding and expectations. But He knows. He knows! Praise GOD and thank you Lord Jesus Christ.
